Sharon Ann's Review of Get Your Guide's NO Mafia Tour in Palermo

What Sharon Ann thinks

Today I learned about not pizza, but pizzo. Do you know what that means? Come with me on a no mafia walking tour in Palermo. Pizzo means payment for protection that shop owners paid mafia to stay out of trouble. The guy told us about the brave martyrs who fought against the mafia. Portraits of whom can be found on the wall of legality, which are painted so beautifully. Did you know? If you find this sticker, meaning I pay to those who don't pay in a restaurant? It means they don't pay to mafia. While passing the Capo market, we witnessed the fun music and mouth watering food. The cathedral also has a history linked to mafia, where a priest died because of them. At the end we visited Piazza Pretoria, which is also called the fountain of shame. Not just because of the naked statues, but also because of the mafia that had part in the municipality. Overall, the tour gave me insights to the astounding history of Palermo. I would 100% recommend this cerebral experience to everyone visiting Sicily. Ciao!
