Darriea's Testimonial on Get Your Guide's Savannah Food Tour
What Darriea thinks
Today, I learned savannah restaurants deserve just as much recognition as its ghost tours, pub crawls and bachelorette parties. Listen, I never paid much attention to Savannah dining as a tourist, but now that I live here I’ve been searching for restaurants that diversify my palate, are easy on the wallet, and actually satisfy my cravings, which is why I’m glad I went on this food tour through the squares. When moving to a new city, it’s easy to lock in a routine and take for granted what’s around you. For instance, I had no idea one of my new favorite dishes has been right under my nose this entire time and there’s so much to learn about Savannah, its history and nature. Like did you know the closest genetic relatives to Spanish moss are pineapples? Or that the JW Marriott is one of the few places in the world registered as a hotel and museum? But aside from being able to walk on the river, my favorite thing about this tour was meeting the tourists and other locals. Although we started as strangers, by the end we exchanged numbers and suggested to each other even more places to eat. Whether a local or tourist, this is definitely an experience worth having, and I highly recommend getting this taste of Savannah.
